The Witch

The wicked witch looms in the shadows, her twisted frame shrouded in a cloak of darkness. Her leathery face is covered by a malicious mask that hides her sinister intentions and reveals only gleaming eyes, brimming with a knowledge beyond what any mortal should possess. With one glance she can pull your very soul from your body and leave you trembling in fear.

A chill crawls down your spine when you come face to face with this witch. A deep pit of dread opens up within you. No escape. The witch’s malice and wicked soul are known to everyone, yet some survive to tell the tale. And even some of those who survive tell a different tale, one of the witch’s spells and spells-like magic. These stories are told from the perspective of the people that were able to escape her wrath, the ones who made it through that dark witch’s deadly séance.

As the villagers gathered in the town square, whispers and speculations echoed back and forth amongst them. The salt pond has been drying up and children have been going missing for some time and know one knows why. They all knew of the evil witch who haunted the nearby cave, said to be a wretched old crone with powers beyond comprehension. And yet, despite their fear of her, none could dare standup against her.

It was on this day that the witch finally revealed herself, appearing on the edge of the square with her face shrouded behind a dark mask. The villagers fell silent as she approached, moving with a lithe grace that belied her advanced age.

“I am the reason for your fear,” the witch announced, her voice a melodic purr that sent shivers down the spines of those gathered. “But fear not, for I have come to offer you an opportunity.”

The crowd murmured uncertainly as the witch gestured towards a large, ornate chest that rested at her feet. With a flick of her wrist, she opened it to reveal a glittering array of jewels and gold.

“All this can be yours,” she intoned. “But only if you agree to serve me.”

There was a collective gasp from the crowd as they realized what this meant – allying themselves with the very being they had long feared.

But even as their minds reeled with indecision, they could not help but be drawn in by the witch’s mysterious allure…
